The Vampire Academy is the first book in the series of the same title.

I am currently reading the Vampire Academy series.

I think that the series is good but no where near the Lux series or the Hush Hush series.

The Vampire Academy is a book and a movie.

The movie is very good, personally I liked the movie more than I liked the book.

The book and the movie are different in many aspects but same in the outline of things.

There are things I would have done differently writing the book.

I would rate this book a 5 or 6 out of 10.

I would let anyone over the age of maybe 10 read this book just because this book doesn't have a lot of violence or sexual content, and it is an easy read. Some things are hard to understand like the elements of the Moroi or about the Dhamphir way of life and the fighting.

But over all there was no spelling mistakes I could catch while reading and it is a good flowing book.

Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess; a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from the Strigoi; the fiercest vampires - the ones who never die. The powerful blend of human and Moroi blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a Dhamphir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making Lissa one of them.

After two years of freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St.Vladimir's Academy, a school for vampire royalty and their guardians-to-be, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. But inside the iron gates, life is even more fraught with danger... and the Strigoi are close by.

Rose and Lissa must navigate their dangerous world, confront the temptations of forbidden love, and never once let their guard down, lest the evil undead makes Lissa one of them forever.
