This book has a scary resemblance to my favourite book series the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. They both have a girl that moves to a Podunk town. Special neighbours, unexplained thing happening around them. A secret spot the main character shows the girl. The main character's first and closest friend is the only girl in the home full of men. The main girl and boy characters have an undeniable sexy, hot as hell connection between them but they can handle stand each other - always at each other's throats. The girl finds out the secret of what's really going on and her life in constantly put in danger. The boy saves her life at the end of the book and a connection happens to all the characters.
So because of all these similarities I am probably a little bias in the means of liking this book. The main characters name is Angel Morgan and I found her character didn't change much during the course of this book.
She changed a little bit, like going from a mostly shut in because of her past, to more open about the family next door and how her life will never be that simple again. The main guy character is Chase Winters and he is practically Daemon Black. Stupidly hot with a hotter temper. Chase was also very closed off - other than for his cousins. He has good reasons - which will be explained throughout the book. He really doesn't change either, other than his feelings for Angel.
The other characters in the book are practically the same as well. Daemon has two siblings, Dee and Dawson Black. Chase has two cousins, Lexi and Travis - who are siblings.
In the Lux series there are three other aliens, Ash, Adam and Andrew. Ash is obsessed and believes her and Daemon are meant to be together. Adam is totally okay with Katy knowing what they are and Andrew believes that it's going to kill all of them.
In the Divisa series there are also three other half-demons, Sierra, Hayden and Craig. Sierra is pining for Chase, believing that she and him belong together because Divisa and humans can't mix. Hayden is chill with Angel knowing because he says it doesn't really affect him and as all the characters in the book say, Craig is a loose cannon. And Hayden, Sierra and Craig aren't related, while in the Lux series, Ash, Adam and Andrew are triplets.
I found this book strayed and came back to the path of the Lux series so I liked it in that way. I thought the characters are all practically the same. Dee (Lux) is bubbly and larger than life - exactly the same as Lexi (Divisa). Travis (Divisa) is still mourning the loss of his lover and I'm not going to spoil the Lux series but it's practically the same thing as well.
There are no serious curse words and not a lot of sexual content in this first book so I'd let anyone read it. I also rate it a 7 or 8/10 just because of how close it is to the Lux series.

I couldn’t help but wonder what my life would be like if we had never moved to the ho-dunk town of Spring Valley, Illinois. Sure the internet service is splotchy, there is nothing but miles of wheat fields, and I probably wouldn’t be faced with death at every corner. My only neighbor in this god forsaken town is…well, there really is only one to describe him—hot as hell. With his sinful dark looks, unusually silver eyes, and kissable lips, there is something about him that is more than meets the eye. Of course I am determined to find out. Chase Winters might be drool-worthy, but he is also insufferable, arrogant and…in short a d-bag. Our relationship is anything but love at first sight. Not even close. There is something weird about the family living next door. What I hadn’t expected to find is an underworld of trouble. Chase and his cousins Lexi and Travis are Divisa—half-demon, half-human. Getting them angry is hardly in my best interest, not if I want to live. As it turns out, that might be the least of my problems. I’ve been tagged by Hell. Now every ugly, nasty being from hades is on my trail. I have suddenly became a magnet for demon disaster, and the only way I am getting out of this alive is by putting my life in the demon spawn’s hands. One wrong decision and my butt is toast.
