I pre-ordered this book and waited everyday by the door to see if the mailman had the book. The morning my mother work me up she threw the book at my head and I basically was a beam of light the rest of the day. I sped read through the book, but took in every word on the paper, making it last as long as it possibly could. This book was basically the first Lux series book (Obsidian). It obviously doesn't have the same plots or anything and is set after the last Lux book but it has the same dynamic. I loved Luc through the entire series of the Lux books but this book stars him and a human girl name Evie. You seen Luc in a new light. He is the same old Luc though, just way sexier. I held onto everything because Luc is literally Daemon Black. I know that sounds crazy and both Daemon AND Luc would kill me for saying that if they were real, but it's true. They try not to feel that way towards the girl, fail miserably, something happens and they have to come to the rescue.
Don't worry I'm not spoiling it because that's how all of these types of book work anyways. Jennifer out did herself again in the debut of the Origin series. Obviously it was a slow book because it is the start of the series and she had to get out all the important facts and tie the past to it and who he is and what is wrong with Evie and their friends and all of the jazz that takes place in first books. I think - no, I know - that the next book will blow this book completely out of the water. I like that specific characters from the Lux series make guest appearances in the book like Daemon Black and Archer. Oh and the new characters that chill with Luc are freaking awesome. I love his human friend with the spiky hair. He's a ball. I don't know how to explain the book without giving anything away, everything is vital in this book. All I'm going to say is that Evie is a firecracker and doesn't put up with Luc's crap. Something happens at the end and it leaves a huge gap for another book (thank god) and Daemon hasn't changed one bit. I would rate this book 9/10. It was amazing and I know I will re-read it within the next year. The only reason a 9 out of 10 is because it is a 'set up' book where there's more plot setting and character introductions than there will be in the rest of the series so there's not a lot of fighting/action scenes. But they will follow. I am positive. Nothing majorly sexual happens in this book. So any age would be able to read this book - anyone that knows aliens aren't real.

When seventeen-year-old Evie Dasher is caught up in a raid at a notorious club known as one of the few places where humans and the surviving Luxen can mingle freely, she meets Luc, an unnaturally beautiful guy she initially assumes is a Luxen...but he is in fact something much more powerful. Her growing attraction for Luc will lead her deeper and deeper into a world she'd only heard about, a world where everything she thought she knew will be turned on its head... #1 New York Times, USA Today, and internationally bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout returns to the universe of the Lux in this brand new series, featuring beloved characters both new and old.
