This book was definitely not my favourite Harlequin Intrigue books I've read. It was very repetitive. This book took place within like a 48 hour tome period from when it began to when it ended. I found that the connections between Reece Covington and Brandi Doyle that linked them together were a little... extreme. I mean, she just happened to stumble across a remote cabin in the mountains and it just so happened the same person she's running from Reece wants revenge on? I believe in Fate and Destiny but even I think that that's a little far fetched. Another thing about this book is that - like most other Intrigue books - they get engaged. But they have literally known each other for less than a week - only seriously two days, and he is already proposing to her. What is this, Las Vegas?
The main thing that bothered me about this book was that he kept saying vulnerability. She was Vulnerable, her vulnerability got to him like no one else has. He said that probably at least every few pages. That bothered me because woman aren't super vulnerable. I get it if he said it once or twice. She was in trouble, needed his help, didn't trust anyone, etc, but to say it on a loop over and over and over again is pretty extreme.
Other than that I found the book okay. Reece was a strong character with his PI angle and Brandi played the 'damsel in distress' that these books let off fairly well.
I would give this book a 3/10 only because of the vulnerable thing, and that everything - including proposal - took place in 48 hours.
I would let anyone read this as long as they know then difference between fiction and non-fiction.

After a long day, the last thing private eye Reece Covington expected to ifnd was a beautiful stranger hiding out in his remote mountain cabin. And when she awoke and told him she was in danger, Reece had an immediate and intense need to protect her. Who was this woman who'd turned his world upside down? Local law enforcement claimed there was little evidence supporting the danger Brandi Doyle reported she was in. Luckily, Reece quickly discovered the stalker Brandi was running from was the same man Reece was running to— for vengeance. But would their intimate connection only give an elusive criminal more ammunition for murder?
